The attractions of Pickens County, South Carolina, are predominantly natural, with many opportunities for outdoor activities in picturesque mountain and woodland surroundings.
Perhaps one of the most famous mountains in the area is Table Rock State Park located just to the north of Pickens. It has been a remarkable symbol for Pickens and can be seen all throughout Pickens and nearby cities such as Easley and Greenville. In addition to Table Rock Mountain, the park contains Pinnacle Mountain, the highest mountain contained entirely within the state of South Carolina.
The highlight of a trip might be venturing by car or on foot to the peak of Sassafras Mountain to take in views of four states (Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia), but the county offers a range of historic and cultural attractions, too. These include the 3,000-acre Table Rock State Park and Keowee-Toxaway State Park with the 18,500-acre Lake Keowee, the South Carolina Botanical Garden, the Pickens County Museum of Art and History and the Hagood Mill Historic Site and Folklife Center.
